Saiyan --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the beginning of a Saiyan's life, they have black hair and they look like regular people, except for the fact that they have a tail. They increase their power level by training, and fighting. Another way they gain power is by looking at a full moon. What looking at a full moon will do is transform the Saiyan into a giant monsterous ape which increases the power tremendously.
Facts:
If the Saiyan does not have a tail (surgically removed or cut off), it cannot transform into an ape.
While transformed into an ape, if the tail is cut off, or if the moon is covered up by dark clouds, the Saiyan is automatically transformed back to it's regualar state.
Trunks and Ancient Saiyan Brolly are the only Saiyans that were born without black hair. Super Saiyan Level 1  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To be able to turn into a Super Saiyan, the Saiyan must have great power stored inside of them. To release this power, a Saiyan must build up deep anger inside. This anger must build up as a result of desire for revenge. If the Saiyan has enough anger, it will surpass the maximum level of a Saiyan, therefore turning it into a Super Saiyan.
Facts:
There are three stages of Super Saiyan Level 1 in itself, Super Saiyan Level 1 Stage 1, Super Saiayn Level 1 Stage 2, and Super Saiyan Level 1 Stage 3. You must understand, these stages are not the same as SSJ level 1, 2, and 3.
Super Saiyan Level 1 Stage 1, is the perfect transformation from Saiyan to Super Saiyan. Super Saiyan Level 1 Stage 2 is increased power and speed, and Super Saiyan Level 1 Stage 3 is increased power but decreased speed.
A Super Saiyan has gold hair that sticks up, greenish eyes, and forms a golden auora around it. The muscle mass, speed, and agility of a saiyan increases also when transformed into a Super Saiyan.
Goku was the first known saiyan in the series to reach this level due to the fight with Freeza. Freeza had killed Krillin (Goku's best friend), which caused the anger that triggered the transformation.
Trunks and Ancient Saiyan Brolly are the only saiyans that were born without black hair.

Super Saiyan Level 2  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To be able to turn into a Super Saiyan Level 2, the Saiyan must basically go through the same process as when tuning into a Super Saiyan Level 1. The Saiyan must again be able to push past it's maximum limit. Although transfroming from a Super Saiyan to a Super Saiyan Level 2 is a lot easier. If the Super Saiyan is able to build up enough anger, it will transform into a Super Saiyan Level 2, therefore giving it golden shiny hair that sticks up, and a brighter auora with a few lighting flashes.
Facts:
As a Super Saiyan Level 2, they have the abilty to adjust their strength/speed/agility. However, tere isn't much of a gain, going from Super Saiyan Level 1 to Super Saiyan Level 2.
There are absoloutley no disadvantages to being at this level.
Gohan was the first saiyan to reach this stage. After seeing all of his friends dying from the Cell Juniors, he got so mad that he transformed.
Super Saiyan Level 2, has speed,agility, and muscle mass that is greatly increased from Super Saiyan Level 1.

Super Saiyan Level 3  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The same thing again happens to transform into a Super Saiyan Level 3. The Saiyan must have great power within itself. The only difference is that a Saiyan does not have to build up anger to reach this stage, but it must have enough power to surpass the maximum again. This power must be huge in order to transform, otherwise, all the Saiyan will do is just increase its power and will remain at the same level. Once transformed into this stage, the Saiyan is almost invincible.
Facts:
Once transformed into a Super Saiyan Level 3, the Saiyan has a limited amount of time to finish its job. Even taking a rest will just waste this time.
At this level, a Saiyan will have the most agility, speed, and power that a Super Saiyan can obtain.
Some people call this the most complete stage of a Super Saiyan.
Goku was the first Saiyan to reach this stage (Brolly might have reached this stage, but he died too early). Gotenks also reached this stage, but he was fused.
Super Saiyan Level 3 does not look much different from Super Saiyan Level 2, except for the fact that Super Saiyan Level 3 has longer hair that hangs down, the power is increased tremedously, and the golden auora has constant lightning.

Super Saiyan Level 4  --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Super Saiyan Level 4 is not thought to be a "real" Super Saiyan transformation. This has come about for two reasons, first, the transformation is done nothing like the first three original transformations, and second, this level looks nothing like the other Super Saiyan levels. Although, this level does achieve more speed agility, and power, it still does not account for one of the orginal transformations.
Facts:
A Super Saiyan Level 4 has red fur covering most of its body, has a tail (must have one to transform), and has black hair that sticks up.
To reach this level, first the Saiyan must turn into a super giant ape, then must increase its power from that stage enough to transform into a Super Saiyan Level 4 (which is not in the form of the ape).
Like it was stated before, this stage does not seem like any of the other transformations, so people do not consider it to be an actual Super Saiyan level.
Goku was again the first Saiyan to reach this stage.
Vegeta did reach this level, but he cheated by using the Brute Ray, created by Bulma, to grow his tail back so that he could transform.
Super Saiyan Level 4 does not last very long becuase the power is drained so quickly. At the most, this stage only last for ten minutes.

Oozaru Ahhh yes, Oozaru, when a Saiyan stares at a full moon, he/she will change into a 45-foot tall, monsterous monkey or grollia called a Were-monkey (Oozaru, in Japanese, translates to "Big Monkey). This is possibly the most powerful level under SSJ3. All Saiyan (excluding Gokou and Gohan) will be able to control themselves during this stage (although in Dragonball GT, it is implied that Vegeta couldn't control himself in Oozaru form, but Bebi could.) It doesn't matter which full moon they look at (in Dragonball GT, Gokou turned Oozaru by looking at the full Earth from Space. And, Vegeta had the ability to create a pocket-sized full moon when he first arrived on Earth to fight Gokou and Gohan that made him turn into the Oozaru.)
*Note* A Saiyan must have a tail to be able to turn Oozaru. If the tail is cut off, they revert to normal. If the tail is pulled out by the roots, the Saiyan will not turn Oozaru ever again. Golden Oozaru A level that was achieved by Gokou and Bebi-Vegeta in Dragon Ball GT. This is the most powerful form of Oozaru, actually, the most powerful of all stages that a Saiyan-jin can achieve, demonstrated by Gokou in DBGT episodes 38-40, when he swatted Bebi-Vegeta all over Planet Plant (Bebi's recreation of the Tsufuru home planet.) The main physical difference with the Ougon stage, is that the fur is yellow instead of brown.
